An original decision-making system

You can do it.
But what will it cost you?

Being technically capable of saying yes does not mean the price fits your life.

The NOPE Number Framework™ helps you examine the cost of a decision, the consequences of not doing it, and what you expect to get back. Then it gives you a way to change the terms before you commit.

The extra shift. The family gathering. The favor that somehow became your entire afternoon. This is where you stop treating your capacity like an unlimited resource.

SUPPORT US ON:

A task can take 30 minutes. Recovery can take days.

The time on the calendar rarely tells the whole story. Preparation, travel, money, pain, sensory demand, mental bandwidth, and recovery can all be part of the price. You deserve to consider that price before somebody else spends your capacity for you.

Four tools.
One better-informed decision.

The NOPE Number Framework™ brings together a calculation, a score, a menu for changing the plan, and a way to check the revised version.

Make the invisible price visible.

Put the trade-off on paper.

Change
the terms.

Check the changed plan.

Consider four factors: Necessity, Overall Expenditure, Payback, and Expected Return. The resulting number helps you see how the expected costs compare with your reasons for saying yes.

A simple calculation brings those four factors together so you can examine the decision instead of holding every competing demand in your head.

Delay. Downsize. Delegate. Demand Access. Decline. A yes may become more workable when you change its timing, size, support, or access conditions. Sometimes the answer is still no.

Price it. Change it. Price it again. Change the actual decision, then score the revised version. Repricing means changing the conditions—not manipulating the numbers until they tell you what you want to hear.

What goes into your NOPE Number?

Score one specific decision under today’s conditions. Each factor receives one whole-number score.

The cost of the yes - Reasons to say yes = The NOPE Number™

N — Necessity

What is the consequence if I do NOT do this?

O — Overall Expenditure

What will this cost me before and while I do it?

P — Payback

What negative effects or recovery demands do I expect afterward?

E — Expected Return

What positive benefit do I reasonably expect?

Built for real lives with finite resources.

Especially when chronic illness, disability, neurodivergence, caregiving, or an already-full life makes every commitment more complicated than “just do it.”

You may be able to attend and still need recovery time. You may want to help and still need support. You may care deeply and still need different terms.

The framework gives those realities a place in the decision.

Your capacity belongs in the conversation.

The Body Changed. The Bitch Did NOT!

How to Build a Life That Fits When Your Body, Your Past, and the World Keep Testing You.

Tiffany Nicole Kingman brings lived experience, research, public-health perspective, and a well-earned bullshit detector to the work of building a life that fits.

The NOPE Number Framework™ is part of that practical approach: understand the price, examine your options, and make room for what your life actually requires.

Because “protect your peace” is a lovely sentiment. I brought instructions.

The NOPE Number Framework™ is an author-created educational and reflective tool. Its scores and result zones are not validated clinical measures. Use it to inform judgment, not replace it. Safety, consent, and urgent medical needs require direct attention.
